A coloured pencil illustration of a mother pig lying in straw. She is suckling six piglets and has a smile on her face, eyes closed.
“The wind blew expectantly over the fields and rattled the barn to it’s core, where a sow turned serenely and gently revealed six piglets by her side on the floor…” So begins The Life of Sir Dunstan Pigglesworth [C. Catherine Hannah 2025]

Synopsis

The Life of Sir Dunstan Pigglesworth is a true story told through poetry and pictures to support families through grief.

When Dunstan the piglet meets his Person, he knows he’s landed on his trotters. Together, they grow and change as they search for their perfect home.

With his twilight years approaching, Dunstan is delighted to see his companion find her soulmate and announce her pregnancy. But when Dunstan dies before Baby is born, his best friend is left to contemplate her grief; ultimately comforted by the memories they made together.

Combining whimsical rhyme with beautiful hand drawn pictures, this candid yet gentle narrative prompts conversations around:

-expressing grief

-aging and the circle of life

-what might happen after death

-remembering loved ones

With a language style to be enjoyed by both adults and children, this book is written to bring comfort to readers and listeners age 4 and up.

Amazon Reviews:

“A wonderful book dealing with grief in a very child friendly and sensitive way. The story is delightful and comforting”.

A compassionately written account of the life of Dunstan the Pig, accompanied throughout with beautiful illustrations by the author. The book is intended to help children approach the difficult subject of death (and achieves this without talking down to younger readers) but adults can equally take comfort in it’s message“.

A coloured pencil illustration. A woman lies on her side, facing away from us. A thought bubble indicates she is dreaming about a pig. They are sitting together on a pile of red apples. The pig has a smile and is wearing a top hat and monocle.
